JIMMY HENSON
Henderson, TN: Jimmy Darwyn Henson age 83 passed away July 4, 2016.
He was born December 16, 1932 in the Woodville Community of Chester County, the son of the late Joseph Aubrey and Lucy Delight Rowland Henson. He graduated from Chester County High School in 1951 and graduated Memphis State in 1955 with a degree in Industrial Arts. He was most valuable player in football at the Chester County High School in 1951 and went on to play football at Memphis State.
He married Sharon Clayton in 1954 and they made their home in Memphis, where he worked for DuPont.
They returned to Henderson in 1971 and purchased the Ford Tractor Dealership and operated as Mullins-Henson Ford Tractor and then Henson Tractor, Inc. to the present time. He enjoyed being at the shop and seeing friends. He had many employees over the years and all of his grandchildren have worked at the business through the years. At one time their Ford dealership was listed among the top ten dealerships in North America.
He had served on the Woodville Cemetery Board for many years. He loved to fish and hunt.
He was a member of the Palestine Baptist Church.
Mr. Henson is survived by his wife, Sharon Clayton Henson of Henderson; a son, Daryl Henson and wife Mona of Adamsville and two daughters, Cathy Allen and husband C.E. of Saltillo and Lorrie Butler and husband Philip of Henderson; seven grandchildren Blake Butler, Whitney Blankenship, Matthew Butler, Melissa Perry, Jason Allen, Patrick Taggart and Blaire Taggart; five great grandchildren, Ella Rose Butler, Cambree Allen, Cason Allen, Claudia Allen and Bobby Perry; a brother, Hayes Henson of Auburndale, FL and two sisters, Bevolee Maness of Eads and Nelda Mullins and husband Bobby of Henderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Lisa Taggart and a grandson, Samuel Taggart.
Funeral services will be 4:00 PM Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Anthony Rowland officiating. Burial will follow in Woodville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Tuesday.
