Jimmy W. Griffin was born November 16, 1939 in Adamsville, TN the son of the late William Robert and Virl Omega Hollingsworth Griffin.
He was united in marriage to Mattie Ruth Riddle on July 2, 1960.
Jimmy graduated from Pickwick Southside High School. He was employed as a pulp operator at Packaging Corporation of America in Counce, TN for 28 years. He also worked as a delivery driver for Matthews Aurora Funeral Solutions. Fishing, hunting, camping, boating, and being outdoors were some of Jimmy's favorite activities, but his first priority was spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Jimmy was a member of the Selmer Masonic Lodge and served as Lodge Chaplain. He formerly attended Falcon Baptist Church and was currently attending Pleasant Site Baptist Church, where he loved to sing praises to his Lord.
Jimmy departed this life on March 5, 2022 in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 82 Years, 3 Months, 17 Days. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mattie Ruth (Riddle) Griffin of Selmer, TN; two daughters, Donna Ruth Newcomb and husband Eddie of Clarksville, TN and Melissa Gale Travis and husband Jamie of Stantonville, TN; four grandchildren: Justin Dunaway and wife Roxanne of Selmer, TN, Matthew Newcomb and wife Shannon of Corinth, MS, Ashley (Travis) Davis and husband Michael of Corinth, MS, and Joshua Newcomb and wife Ashlee of Clarksville, TN; eleven great-grandchildren: Madalyn Travis Davis, Cloie Moore, Lillie Dunaway, Sam Dunaway, Wyatt Newcomb, Lily Finn Newcomb, Elena Newcomb, Henry Newcomb, Jackson Newcomb, Mollie Wofford, Sadie Wofford; and many extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by three brothers: Bobby Griffin, Bill Griffin, and Jack Griffin.
