Services for Jimmy Ussery Godsey, age 64, of Florence, AL, will be Monday, April 7, 2008 at 3 pm at Christian Faith Church, Florence, AL with Dennis Hanvey and Jerry Balentine, II, officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Church of Christ Cemetery, Greenhill, AL with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County directing. Pallbearers will be Josh Davis, Donnie Whitehead, Phillip Clement, Adam Godsey, Gabriel Carter, Chris Darby, Drew Barrett, Tyler McCravey, Chris Woods. Visitation will be Sunday, April 6, 2008 from 6 pm to 9 pm at Christian Faith Church, Florence, AL. He died at his home on Saturday, April 5, 2008.
A native of Leighton, AL, he was a retired welder, having worked with Kings Krafts, and He farmed during his younger years. He was a member of Christian Faith Church. He loved his family with all his heart, loved to sing gospel music, loved flowers and gardening, and was a very loving person who loved God.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Ussery Godsey, his mother and step-father, Lillian and Milton Crowden, and a grandson, Austin Clemmons.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Bradley Godsey, sons, Mark and Ricky Barrett, daughters, Lisa Davis, Tina Clemmons, and Rebekah Woods, fourteen grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, all of Florence, AL; a sister, Peggy Carter and a step-sister, Evelyn Holt both of Leighton, AL; step-brothers, Bobby Crowden and Glenon Crowden both of Leighton, AL and Lindon Crowden of Spring Valley, AL.
