Mrs. Jimmie Rush Wiley, age 85 of Silerton, Tennessee passed from this life Wednesday evening, March 16, 2016 at Pine Meadows Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.
A lifelong native of the Piney Grove community, Mrs. Wiley was born Thursday, May 1, 1930 to the late James William "Jim" and Lillie Ruth Howell Rush. On Saturday, July 12, 1947, she was united in marriage to Gordon Lee Wiley, who preceded her in death October 26, 1975.
She worked as a homemaker, ran Wiley's Grocery for 13 years, helped her husband with farming & cutting timber, and had other curious odd jobs throughout her life. She also worked Mother's Day Out for several years. She was a faithful member of the Piney Grove Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School in her early years. Some of her favorite pastimes included quilting and reading, and above all, she loved her family and church very much.
Mrs. Wiley is survived by her children, Wanda Wiley Young and husband Oliver of Silerton, Angela Wiley Smith and husband Timmy of Jonesborough, TN, and Richard Gordon Wiley of Medon; a sister, Joann Murley of Silerton; 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Wanza Archer and Peggy Blakely; and one great-grandchild, Chelsea Paige Morris.
