JIM HEELAN
Henderson, TN: James Raymond Heelan, Jr. age 81 passed away March 20, 2016 at Henderson Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born in Chicago, IL the son of the late James Raymond and Bernice Egan Heelan. He graduated from Mt. Carmel Seminary High School in Niagara Falls, Canada. He studied and entered the Priesthood but later changed careers. He attended DePaul University where he received his Master Degree and later earned his Law-Degree. He married Helen McIntyre on January 29, 1983.
He served as a prosecuting Attorney for the District Attorney’s Office in Cook County, IL. for the majority of his career.
He later served as Town Attorney for Cicero, IL, and had served as president of the LaGrange Rotary Club and Lions Club. He also served as Executive Assistant Director of the National District Attorney Association and on the board of Family Service and Mental Health Services of Cicero, IL. He served in U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He moved to Chester County three years ago.
Mr. Heelan was a member of the St Michael and All Angels Church in Berwyn IL.
Mr. Heelan is survived by his wife, Helen (Scottie) Heelan of Henderson; daughters, Eileen Forsner of Oak Brook, IL, Joan Hadac of Chicago, IL, Bernadette Heelan of Chicago, IL, Monica Swift of Mokena, IL, Patrice Monagahan of Elmhurst, IL, Tina Giera of Sherwood, IL and Eileen McKee of Joliet, IL and Carrie Oden of Plainfield, IL; seventeen grandchildren and two great grandchildren and two sisters, Virginia Peretti and Judith Pierce both of Chicago, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Shelia Forsner, a grandchild Alex and two brothers, William and Jack Heelan.
Funeral Services will be 2PM Wednesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Johnson Chapel with Roy Sharp Officiating. The family will receive friends from 5pm-9PM Tuesday.
