Jewell Phillips
Was born on August 8, 1914 in Chester County, Tennessee the daughter of the late William Donnie and Ethel White Hughes.
She was united in marriage to Tommie C. Phillips, who preceded her in death on October 11, 1968. Mrs. Phillips had been employed by, and she retired from, Brown Shoe Factory, Old Home Restaurant and Aqua Glass. She was also a housewife, devoted mother and grandmother. Mrs. Phillips was known for her beautiful flowers and spent many hours working in her flower beds and vegetable garden. She was also member of Adamsville First Christian Church.
She departed this life on April 25, 2006 at Tri-County Convalescent Home in Adamsville, Tennessee at the age of 91 years, 8 months and 17 days.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by one son Billy (Sambo) Phillips and his wife, Carolyn of Adamsville, 3 daughters: Peggy Bishop and her husband, George, of Morris Chapel, Kay Robison and her husband, Leon, of Jacks Creek and Linda Wicker and her husband Russell of Oakland; one step-son, Arnold Phillips and his wife, Sue, of Adamsville, and 2 step-daughters: Ruth Forsythe and Johnny of Selmer and Doris Forsythe of Selmer;
10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Tommie C. Phillips, she was preceded in death by a daughter Naomie Lucille Alexander, a son Danny A. Phillips, 3 step-sons: Hayse Phillips, Karl Joe Phillips and Ray Phillips; and 3 step-daughters: Maggie Buchanan, Muriel Jones and Mable Walker.
