JESSIE GARNER ROWLAND

Henderson, TN: Jessie Lee Garner Rowland age 85 passed away July 11, 2016 at The Regional Medical Center in Memphis, after suffering a fall on July 5th.

She was born May 10, 1931 in the Hickory Corner Community of Chester County, the daughter of the late Joe Clifford and Mary L.E. Burkhead Garner. She attended schools at Hickory Corner. She married Drew Rowland of the Palestine Community in 1947 and they made their home in the Palestine Community since that time. In 1955 she began working at Salant & Salant Mfg., and worked there until 1970, and then worked at General Electric in Selmer from 1972 until 1991, when she retired after working there twenty years.

She was a member of the Palestine Baptist Church and loved cooking, quilting, gardening and her family.

Mrs. Rowland is survived by three sons, Ricky Rowland and wife Pat of Henderson, Garry Rowland and wife Sharon of Henderson and Anthony Rowland and wife Vickie of Bethel Springs and two daughters, Linda Dianne Reaves and husband Clifton of Savannah and Pamela Summers and husband Kendall of Ramer; fifteen grandchildren and twenty eight great grandchildren; a brother, Alfred Landon Garner and wife Jo Ellen of Finger and two sisters, Ann Morrison of Hickory Corner and Peggy Whitman and husband Lonnie of Hickory Corner.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Drew Allison Rowland in 2014 and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday at Palestine Baptist Church with Anthony Rowland and Skippy Rowland officiating. Burial will follow in Palestine Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel Tuesday evening from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Wednesday morning from 8:00 am until 11:00 AM and from 12 noon until 1:00 pm at the church.
