Jessie W. Jones
was born in Hardin County, Tennessee the daughter of the late Thomas Martin and Laura McFall Wicker.
On June 1, 1937 she was united in marriage to Garvin Jones, who preceded her in death on December 19, 1978. Mrs. Jones retired after over 35 years of teaching in Hardin, McNairy, Sevier, Knox and Hamilton counties. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Savannah and also a member of the Tennessee Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma and Woodmen of the World. Mrs. Jones was a past president of the Hardin County Teachers Association.
She departed this life on May 16, 2006 at Hardin Medical Center in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 89 years, 7 months and 22 days.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her son, Harold Jones of Adamsville, Tennessee; 2 grandchildren: Amy Payne of York, Virginia and Salina Furlong of Savannah, Georgia; and 5 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Icye Farris and 3 brothers: Everette, Herbert and Ernest Wicker.
