Jessie Lynn Cox
was born in Lauderdale County, Alabama on September 29, 1927 the son of the late James Lewis and Ellen Newton Cox.
On August 16, 1947 he was united in marriage to Christine White, who survives.
Mr. Cox lived most of his life in Hardin County, Tennessee. He worked for Bama Meat Company for 20 years and for Nafco Floor Tile as a machine operator for 20 years before retiring. He was the beloved patriarch of his family. He was a faithful and loving husband. To his children he was the example of what a hard working and generous father should be, firm but fair.
He enjoyed yard mowing, farming, and having cookouts with his family. Mr. Cox was well loved in his community and known for his bountiful garden, which he shared with his family, friends, and neighbors.
Mr. Cox departed this life Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at the age of 80 years, 8 months, 27 days.
In addition to his wife, Christine, he is survived by a daughter: Brenda Lambert of Savannah, Tennessee; three sons: David Cox of Knoxville, Tennessee, James Cox and Harley Cox both of Savannah, Tennessee; a sister: Rachel Cox Wisdom of Savannah, Tennessee; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters: Gertie Williams, Martha Goodman, Madgielean Daniels, Willie Brannon, Ida Stricklin; two brothers: Ben Cox and Robert Cox.
Mr. Cox loved the Lord and is at rest with his Saviour.
