Jerry Dean Rickman was born in Milledgeville, Tennessee on October 6, 1937, the son of the late Walter R. and Sallie D. Burns Rickman. On February 6,1965, he was united in marriage to Margaret Ann Shelby Rickman, who survives. Jerry departed this life on June 11, 2019, at the age of 81 years, 8 months, and 5 days.
Jerry served his country in the United States Army. He attended First Baptist Church in Crump, Tennessee, where he was a Deacon for more than 50 years. He also held the position of Senior Adult Director of the Shiloh Baptist Association. In his lifetime, he worked at Shackelford Funeral Directors, as the owner and operator of Rickman Grocery in Crump, Tennessee, and, finally, as a Route Salesman for Briggs Wholesale, before retiring after approximately 20 years. Jerry enjoyed all sports, especially University of Tennessee softball and football, the St. Louis Cardinals, and Adamsville Cardinal sports. He especially loved his family.
In addition to his wife, Margaret, of 54 years, Jerry is survived by his son, Chad Rickman and wife Christy of Knoxville, Tennessee; daughter, Jill Ragan and husband Mike of Eastview, Tennessee; grandchildren, Shelby, Jack, and Andi Ragan and Ethan, Daniel, Cailin, Delaney, and Eiley Rickman.
Along with his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his infant son, Darryl Lynn Rickman; brothers, Harold, Gene, Otis, Roy, and Carl Rickman; and sisters, Beatrice Hughes, Grace Spencer, Dorothy Bridges, and Marie Wells.
