Jerry Lynn Nutt

Jerry Lynn Nutt, age 78, of Waynesboro, TN, passed away on December 26, 2024. Jerry was born on October 3, 1946, in Waynesboro, TN to the late Ivan and Georgie Kelley Nutt.

In November 1966, Jerry found his soulmate in Mary “Lib” Pope Nutt, who preceded him in death. Their love story is a testament to devotion and partnership that will forever resonate with those who knew them.

Throughout his life, Jerry was known for his hard work and dedication, serving as a supervisor for Karr Industries and later as a maintenance man for the Wayne County Government.

In his spare moments, Jerry found joy in the simple pleasures of life—reading, woodworking, and enjoying the rewarding task of busting pecans. These hobbies not only reflect his creative spirit but also his appreciation for the beauty of nature and craftsmanship.

As we remember Jerry, let us celebrate the warmth he brought into our lives and the legacy of kindness he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his daughter, Kelly Gatlin (Bob) of Waynesboro, TN; grandchild, Chelsey Moore (Clay) of Parsons, TN; great grandchild, Mac Edwin Moore; sisters, Nancy Hill (Lewis) of Lawrenceburg, TN, and Carolyn Downey (Carlos) of Hartsville, TN; sisters-in-law, Ann Pope, Diane Pope, and Ruth Nutt; brother-in-law, Travis Woods; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his sisters, Lou Nell Bates, Dorothy Ann Woods, Grace Evelyn Vandivort, Sandra Jones, and Glenda Sue Nutt; brothers, Jim Nutt, Tom Nutt, and John Nutt; sister-in-law, Burma Pope Odle; and brothers-in-laws, Jimmy Lynn Pope and Billy Joe Pope.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and on Sunday, December 29, 2024 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm service time at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Waynesboro, TN.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Waynesboro, TN with Stan Horton officiating. Burial will follow in Balcum Cemetery with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.
