Mr. Jerry L. Dowdy departed this life at his home in Whiteville Thursday, November 1, 2012 at the age of 65 years, 8 months and 24 days.
Mr. Dowdy was born Saturday, February 8, 1947 in Fayette County to the late Otis Lamar Dowdy and Dorothy Maxine Richmond Dowdy. He lived most of his life in Whiteville and worked as a truck driver. Mr. Dowdy also served his country in the United States Air Force.
He is survived by a daughter, Summer Dykes of Port St. Joe, Florida; a son, Shawn Lamar Dowdy of Marion, Arkansas; and four grandchildren, Chase Dykes, Haven Dykes, Dusty Dykes and Katelyn Dykes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanette Dowdy.
