Jerry Carter departed this life on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at the age of 78 years, 4 months, 2 days. He was born in Savannah, Tennessee on January 3, 1937, the son of the late Albert Franklin and Ruby Estel Butler Carter. On December 30, 1961, he was united in marriage to Norma Gene Garrett, who survives.
Jerry was a truck driver and drove for Roadway Express for 25 years. He had lived in Saltillo, Tennessee for 48 years and Memphis, Tennessee for 30 years. He enjoyed working on vehicles, tractors, fishing, and hunting. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
In addition to his wife of 53 years, Norma of Saltillo, Tennessee, he is survived by his daughter, Stacy Y. Sheffield and husband, Tim of Arlington, Tennessee; grandson, Hunter Sheffield; and sister, Margie Duren of Crump, Tennessee.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jo Thomison.
