Jeffery B. Avent, 41, of Bolivar, died Monday, August 22, 2005 in Managua, Nicaragua.
Born July 6, 1964 to Ann Bell of Cordova and Bruce Avent of Bolivar, he was the owner and operator of Foxy’s Bar and Grill in Granada, Nicaragua. Prior to moving to Nicaragua he was a music tour bus driver and lived in Hardeman County most of his life. A member of the Elliston Baptist Church in Memphis, he performed numerous charity works while in Nicaragua.
Services were Monday, August 29, 2005 at 10 AM at Shackelford’s Bolivar chapel with James Howell and Rickey Watkins officiating. Burial was at Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Hickory Valley with David Hill, Drew Pitts, Dana Gravitt, Keith Mooney, Timmy Bishop and Barry Lax serving as casket bearers and Steve Coville as honorary casket bearer.
In addition to his parents, survivors include a son, Tristen Avent of Cordova; three sisters, Jennifer Cossey of Kwajalein, Marshall Islands, Jamey Bell of North Port, Fla. and Monica Corley of Jackson; his best friend and cousin, Lisa Fitts of Memphis; three step-brothers, Denny Lax of Memphis, Andy Lax of Kansas City, Kan., and Dewayne Bell of Southaven, Miss.; four nieces and two nephews.
