JEANETTE BOLTON

Henderson, TN: Jeanette McBurnett Payne Chappell Bolton was born January 17, 1947, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Artie and Marie Bradshaw McBurnett. Jeanette graduated from White Hall High School in 1964. She received a BSE degree from the University of Central Arkansas, in 1968. She received her Master’s Degree in Business Education from the University of Memphis in 1978.

Jeanette taught twenty-two years in Hardeman County, twenty of which were at Bolivar Central High School where she taught typing. She taught eight years in Chester County. She retired in 2001 after thirty years in the classroom.

Jeanette was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church, Pinson, where she was a Prayer Room Volunteer. She was a former member of First Baptist Church, Bolivar, where she and her late husband, Richard Chappell, were active in the Youth Ministry. Jeanette loved to study her Bible and was a long-time member of Explorer’s Bible Study in Jackson. Jeanette was a ‘Meals on Wheels’ volunteer for over thirty years, and she served as a volunteer at the Gleaner’s Thrift House. She was a former member of the Chester County Library Board. She was member of the Chester County Education Association, the Tennessee Education Association, and the National Education Association. She was an avid reader of Christian novels, loved to walk, and work in her flowers.

Jeanette is survived by her husband, Anthony Bolton, whom she married in 1990. She is also survived by a son, Michael Todd Payne (Michelle) of Memphis, TN and a daughter, Jennifer Chappell Woodall (John) of Houston, TX, and three stepchildren, Marjorie Pjontek (Dave), Becky Cox (George), and Barry “Bear” Bolton (Joy). Four grandchildren, Mary Grace Payne Mansfield (David) of Columbia, SC, Ethan Payne of Knoxville, TN, and Jameson and Jesse Woodall of Houston, Texas, and four step-grandchildren: Allie Pjontek Thoms (Chase), Luke and Steven Pjontek, and Zane Bolton. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Shirley McBurnett Quick.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Saturday, February 8th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Bobby Russ officiating. Burial will follow at Henderson City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Friday and Saturday from 1:00 PM until funeral time of 3:00 PM.

Memorials may be made to The Prayer Room at Grace Baptist Church, 15 Southview Drive, Pinson, TN 38366, or the Chester County Library.
