Jean Ray Kendrick

June 1, 1934 — September 24, 2023

Counce

“I do not go to the other side to be alone. I go to the ones who have been patiently waiting.”

Jean Ray Kendrick (aka Jeannie, JR) crossed over on Sunday, September 24, 2023 in Counce, Tennessee at the age of 89 years, 3 months, and 23 days. All the way up until her passing she was surrounded by family and friends. She was born on June 1, 1934 in Tucson, Arizona. She was the only daughter of the late Ralph and Nina Faye Adams. She was a talented country style dancer and this is how she met her husband Bob. She was married to Bobby Wendell Kendrick who preceded her death on November 26, 2020.

All of those who knew her were affected by her love of life. She was a true artist in all dimensions. She was passionate about the past, but loved living in the moment. She enjoyed entertaining and was a fabulous cook and baker. She was a quilter and a teacher of quilting. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and stain glass. She loved her home and enjoyed entertaining and sharing her home with those she kept closest to her heart and those she just met. She loved to venture out into the ocean with her husband Bob on their 14’ boat, to salmon fish. As you can guess, there are stories living out at sea. She loved camping and horseback riding. She grew to be a great horse rider and had many favorites such as a Mustang named Grace and a Tennessee Walker, named Sonny. However, her deepest love was her family and friends. Just a few months prior to her death she was blessed to share an adventure with her only daughter Cindy for 3 months through many states to visit family, friends, those other than human in the beautiful lands of Yellowstone, the Rockies and more. As Jean would say, “I love all God’s creatures”. We will miss her infectious smile, her welcoming hands and endearing warmth. She is survived by her two sons David Uhlmeyer and his wife Maureen, Charlie Uhlmeyer and his wife Sheila, her daughter Cynthia Rankin, her brothers David and Donald Adams, and her five grandchildren Ryan, Kevin, Shannon, Nicholas and Nathan Uhlmeyer.
