Jean Fondren departed this life on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at the age of 83 years, 8 months, 12 days.
She was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on April 27, 1929, the daughter of the late James Oliver and Blanche Reed Young. On June 28, 1947, she was united in marriage to James C. "Sonny" Fondren.
Jean had lived in Columbia, Tennessee for 10 years and the lived the rest of her life in Hardin County, Tennessee. She had worked as a seamstress for Brown Shoe Company for 20 years and Savannah Manufacturing for 15 years. She loved her Lord and church, Olivet Cumberland Presbyterian, her family, quilting,cooking, cleaning and yard work.
She is survived by a son, Dennis C. Fondren and wife Gail of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Bart C. Fondren, Scott Harrison and wife Starla, Todd Harrison and wife Jennifer; great grandchildren, Ben, Jaquelyn, Braxton, Michael, Jacob, and Anna Harrison; sister, Mary Gilliam and husband Garland of Savannah, Tennessee; brother, Travis Young and wife Doris of Savannah, Tennessee; special friends, Sara and Bill Duncan of Columbia, Tennessee; several nieces,nephews, a host of friends and church family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James C. "Sonny" Fondren, who preceded her in death on November 22, 2008; granddaughter, Kelly Jean Fondren; brother, R.V. Young; sisters, Irene Spivey and Carrie Fondren.
