Mrs. Edwards passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at her home in Grand Junction.
The daughter of the late Gilbert and Christine Hurt Winstead, she was born at home, in Memphis, with the assistance of a public health nurse, who later became her mother-in-law, Mattie Lee Schaeffer Edwards.
A 1948 graduate of Central High School in Memphis, she married Dr. Nicholas H. Edwards on March 9, 1949 and they were married for 70 years at the time of his passing on October 18, 2019. The Edwards family moved to Grand Junction in the late 1950's where Dr. Edwards practiced medicine for many years. She was a member of the Grand Junction United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Nick Edwards Jr. of Grand Junction, and Scott W. Edwards of Atlanta, Georgia; two grandchildren, Lauren Spencer and Nikki Edwards; and one great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Lee Edwards; and a daughter-in-law, Sara Sills Edwards.
