Janice Perkins Johnson

August 17, 1939 — July 2, 2022

Janice Mae Perkins Johnson was born August 17,1939 in the New Hope community of Crump in Hardin County,Tennessee, the daughter of the late Edwin May Perkins and Ernestine Jarrett Perkins. She departed this life on July 2, 2022, at the age of 82 years,11 months, and 15 days.

Janice graduated from Savannah Central High School and married her high school sweetheart Larry Mitchael Johnson on August 6,1957. She was a dedicated homemaker and took much pride in preparing everyone's favorite food and creating beautiful floral arrangements and tablescapes. Her home was beautiful and, with her special touch, warm and inviting.

For many years, Janice worked as a bookkeeper for the family business and served as a Sunday school teacher at the Mt. Zion Church of Christ in the Nixon community. In the later years of her life, Janice was a member of the Savannah Church of Christ. She was a dignified and elegant lady who held to her strong conservative values throughout her life.

Janice is survived by her children Mitzi Johnson Levin and her husband Barry of Birmingham, Alabama, Mitchael Johnson and his wife Patricia of Savannah, Tennessee, and Jetta Johnson of Calera, Alabama; her sister Brenda Perkins Wood and her husband Jerry and her brother Harry Perkins and his wife Doris, all of Crump, Tennessee; her grandchildren Jessica Johnson Mabry and her husband Cory and Riley Johnson; one great ­grandson Daniel Grant Mabry and one on the way. She was beloved by many friends and relatives.

In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her husband Larry Mitchael Johnson and grandson Mitchael Grant Johnson.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 11, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, July 12th from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Savannah, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 1:00 PM in their chapel with burial immediately following in Memory Gardens in Savannah, Tennessee.

The service will be officiated by David Baker and Barry Binion. Pallbearers are Cory Mabry, Justin Browder, Mark Gant, Justin Reynolds, Jonathan Linam, Will Linam, Zachary Tyler, Jaime Franks, Chris Jones, and Clint Jones. Honorary Pallbearers are Barry Levin, Jay Reynolds, and Mark Wood.

Memorial donations may be made to the Gracepoint Church of Christ, Grant Johnson fund, 269 Wayne Road, Savannah Tennessee 38372.
