She was born and reared in Madison County, in Mason Wells Community, daughter of the late Jessy Thomas and Kathryn Lee (Kate) David King. She attended schools in Lauderdale County and in 1935 was married to Willie Frank Pierce of the Friendship Community and they made their home in the Big Springs and Friendship Community, where Mr. Pierce farmed. She was a member of the Madison County Family Community Education Club, South East Madison Raritan Club and a member of the Big
Springs United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sons Jimmy, aka Crazy Pierce and wife Betty of Jackson and Travis, aka Rabbit Pierce and wife Sherry of Pinson; three daughters Hazel Stapels of Jackson, Peggy Tomes and husband Keith of Bolivar and Ramona Pounds and husband Kerry of Pinson; fourteen grandchildren, eight step grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren; and a brother Tommy King of Phoenix, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her husband Willie Frank Pierce in 1985 and a son Frank Pierce in 2002; a grand daughter Ronda Staples Stafford, May 2005; a son in law Dr. Charles (Pete) Staples, Oct. 1997; two sisters Inell Dean and Mildred Penrod and a brother Johnny King.
