Janet Black

Mrs. Black died Friday at Dyersburg Manor Nursing Center in Dyersburg, TN.



She was the daughter of the late Joseph Otha and Maggie Hall Boone. Mrs. Black was a 1941 graduate of Jackson (TN) High School and married Howard Vincent Black, Sr. on March 26, 1944. Mr. Black died April 30, 2002. She was a member of the Bolivar Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she served in the CPW. She was a charter member of the Hardeman County Chapter of the DAR and served as librarian here for many years. She retired as Registrar-at-large for the Hardeman County Election Commission after 35 years of service.



She leaves her daughter and her husband, Cynthia and Errol Hook of Dyersburg; her son and his wife, Howard V. Black, II and Cathy of Bolivar; her sister, Minnie Lee Ward of Jackson; five grandchildren, Errol Michael Hook of Rosemark, TN, Amy Hook Kimler of Hendersonville, TN, John Madison Hook of Humboldt, Roy Vincent Black and Hannah Mae Black, both of Bolivar; four great-grandchildren, Trace, Madison Katharine and Cole Boone Kimler, and John Watterson Hook.
