Jane Harris Eklund Smith

April 4, 1935 — March 17, 2025

Anice "Jane" Harris Eklund-Smith age 89 years, 11 months, and 13 days of Savannah, Tennessee peacefully entered into the kingdom of heaven of heaven on March 17, 2025 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee surrounded by family and friends.

Born on April 4, 1935 in Leapwood, Tennessee, she lived and loved her country home and farm life. She graduated from Adamsville High School in 1952. Jane later married the late Roy Eklund in 1955 and had three children. Jane went on to persue a nursing career from Crump Vocational School as a L.P.N. and served her community as a respected nurse in various capacities over a 54 year span, including her retired years. She enjoyed her privacy and quiet time as well as her wind chimes and the culture of Native American Indians. Jane touched many lives and will be remembered for her physical beauty, humor, candidness, and colorful personality.

She was preceded in death by her father, Mr. Otha "Cleatus" (O.C.) Harris, her mother, Mrs. Sarah Eva "Evie" Harris, her brother, Norville Harris, her beloved son, Roy "Allen" Eklund (Pat), granddaughter, Erin Lee Gillespie, and her late husbands, Roy Eklund and Glenn D. Smith.

Jane is survived by her daughters, Kelly Eklund West (Charlie Young), and Laura Lee Eklund Gillespie (Greg); grandchildren, Eric Phillips-Boguardus (Mike), July Eklund Gurchiek (Chris), Abby Grammer (Jeff), Katie Eklund Bargatze (Devin), Kyle Whitworth (Cassidy), and Sarah Kate Gillespie. She left a legacy of six great-grandchildren, Noah Grammer, Aria Grammer, Lucy Lynn Gurchiek, Luke Gurchiek, Hudson Allen Bargatze, and Barrett Bargatze. She also leaves behind a step-daughter, Freida Smith-Treece and two step great-grandchildren, Vickie Jo and Todd Grammer.

Jane departed this world leaving behind many extended family members, friends, coworkers, neighbors, and others who were fond of her and will miss her greatly.
