Ms. Coffman died Friday evening at Primacy Healthcare and Rehab Center in Memphis.
She was born in Whiteville, daughter of the late Dr. J. L. and Bettie Mai Blalock Coffman and lived and worked in New York for 32 years, along with her sister, Ellen, prior to moving to Memphis several years ago. She was a pioneer in physical therapy at New York University Medical Center ~ Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, where she not only conducted therapy session, but also taught others her methods. Ms. Coffman attended elementary and high school in Whiteville and was a member of Whiteville First United Methodist Church. Among her interests were that she was a seamstress, writer, financial investor and painter.
Survivors include two sisters, Ellen Coffman of Cordova and Frances Haralson of Houston, Tex.; a nephew, Richard Frank Haralson of Houston, Tex.; a niece, Lisa H. Andreason of Sugar Land, Tex.; a great nephew, Scot P. Andreason of College Station, Tex. and a great niece, Sierra I. Andreason of Sugar Land, Tex.
