James Robert Vaughn, 67, of Middleton, died Thursday morning, July 6, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis.
The husband of Shirley Lee Booker Vaughn, who survives, he was a heavy equipment operator for Tenn. Gas for 17 years. Mr. Vaughn was born August 5, 1938 in McNairy County, son of the late Loyd and Martha Russell Vaughn and lived here most of his life. He served in the U. S. Army as a Staff Sergeant for two tours during the Vietnam Conflict and was a member of Middleton Church of Christ. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, camping and woodwork.
Services were 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2006 at Shackelford Funeral Directors Middleton chapel with Frank Bell officiating. Burial was in Eureka Cemetery near McNairy County.
In addition to his wife, whom he married October 23, 1992, he is survived by one daughter, Carla Watts of Middleton; four sons, Jimmy Vaughn of Middleton, Andy Vaughn of Pocahontas, Jeff Vaughn of Eastview and Tim Hambien of Middleton; five sisters, Peggy Dixon of Corinth, Miss., Gloria Moore of Middleton, Debbie Moore of Selmer, Judy Hopper of Pocahontas and Ann Knight of Pocahontas; four brothers, Mack Vaughn of Middleton, Arnie Vaughn of Pocahontas, Reece Vaughn of Chewalla, David Vaughn of Pocahontas and seven grandchildren.
