Mr. James T. (Pop) Vandiver, age 79 of Bolivar, passed from this life Monday, March 30, 2009 at the Bridge at Ridgely in Ridgely, TN.
He was born February 3, 1930 in Hardeman County to the late Lonnie Monroe and Ida Martha Hall Vandiver. He married Georgia Lucille Grantham, who survives, April 17, 1949 and worked as a self-employed carpenter. He loved to fish and was an avid business man, owning Vandiver's Dollar Store, a variety store, a mom & pop's store and a skating rink. He was a charter member of Dixie Hills Baptist Church and attended Ebenezer Baptist Church at Toone.
In addition to his wife, he leaves as survivors three sons, Thomas Vandiver and his wife Peggy, Donald Vandiver and his wife Caroline and Ronald Vandiver and his wife Renee, all of Bolivar; a sister, Shirley Barton of Bolivar; a brother, Larry Vandiver and his wife Dee of Bolivar; six grandchildren, Stacy Seaton, Chad Vandiver, Russell Vandiver, Stephen Vandiver, Brigitte Taylor and Rex Vandiver; and eight great-grandchildren, Riley and Katie Seaton, Owen, Sara and Rachel Vandiver, Macy Caroline and Isabella Taylor and Addison Vandiver.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Vandiver was preceded in death by two sisters, Clara Pearl Lowrance and Emogene Eubanks and two brothers, Paul Vandiver and Charlie Vandiver.
