James "J.C." Starkey was born August 11, 1956 in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of the late Retha Mae Starkey Cooper, and Loye Calvin Starkey.
J.C. spent most of his life as a commercial fisherman. He had lived in Hardin and McNairy Counties for the past 25 years. In his free time, he enjoyed watching movies, and he also loved working with horses.
He departed this life on September 10, 2022 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 66 years and 30 days.
He is survived by: one daughter, Salena Keirns (James Hopper) of Savannah, Tennessee; a sister, Elaine Kuper (Marvin) of Sturgis, South Dakota; two brothers, Charley Starkey of Crump, Tennessee, and Scott Starkey (Shoretta) of Reagan, Tennessee; and four grandchildren, Sean Stanfill, Kanan Castile, Ashtin Stanfill, and Jaycob Handing.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by one brother, Neely Joe Starkey.
