James Earl ‘Snuffy’ Smith
Henderson: James Earl ‘Snuffy’ Smith, age 75, died Saturday afternoon at the West Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt.
Mr. Smith was born in Chester County, the son of the late Leo and Lera Lott Smith. He graduated from South Side High School in 1958 and entered the U. S. Army and served as military police in Korea, post Korean War. He married Joyce Ann Forrester in 1962. They made their home at Pinson. He worked for 33 years at Consolidated Aluminum in Jackson, retiring in 2002.
He loved to fish and was an avid outdoorsman. He was the Catfish Champion on the World in 1995.
He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of the Pinson Baptist Church.
He is survived by two children; James Kevin Smith (Jennifer) of Henderson and Lisa Smith (Kerry Goff) of Finger, a sister Judy Ruth (Bobby) of Henderson, three grandchildren; Kyle Stringfellow (Samantha), Blake Smith, and Kaylea Smith and two great grandchildren; Madison and Emily Stringfellow.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joyce in 2015, a brother Tommy Gene Smith and a sister Linda Joyce Wilson.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Bro. Ronnie Geary officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors at Chester County Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Shackelford – Casey Chapel beginning at 10:00 AM Tuesday.
