James W. Shrump, a proud veteran and beloved member of his community, passed away on September 20, 2024, at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in, Humboldt, TN. Born December 15, 1931, in Cleveland, Ohio, James dedicated his life to service, and embodied the spirit of commitment and integrity that defined his military career.
His journey began when he joined the United States Army, where served for 20 years, ultimately retiring with the rank of 1st Sergeant. His tenure in the military was marked by exceptional bravery and dedication, as he served as a Paratrooper, a role that highlighted both his physical prowess and mental resilience. Among his numerous accomplishments, James was awarded the Bronze Star, a testament to his valor and distinguished service to his country.
James's legacy is one of service and dedication. He was preceded in death by his wife, Addie Mae Vaughan Shrump, who held a special place in his heart. Also preceding him in death were his parents, Chester Simon Shrump and Marie Katherine Wissel Shrump, both of whom shaped his values and commitment to duty.
