James A. Rixie

James Alex Rixie, 73, of Bolivar, died Saturday morning, May 21, 2005 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital Transitional Care.



The widower of Peggy Jeter Rixie, who died in July 2002, he was a heavy equipment operator. Mr. Rixie was born January 7, 1932 in Hardeman County, son of the late John Henry Rixie and Carrie Frances Maples Rixie and lived here most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church near Toone.



Graveside services were 4 PM Sunday, May 22, 2005 at Ebenezer Cemetery with Frank Bell officiating. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar were in charge of arrangements.



Survivors include one daughter, Sheila Jean Williams of Sherman, Tex.; one son, Dale Rixie of Henderson; five stepsons and two step-daughters, Doug Jackson, Cecil, Mike, Wayne and Hubert Jeter, Donna Siscoand Beverly Jeter, all of Bolivar and several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, James Garvin Rixie.
