James Harold Morris of Collinwood, TN was born July 30, 1926 at Mill Springs on Hardin Creek in Wayne County, the son of the late Herman and Mary Walker Morris. Mr. Morris died on Monday, November 3, 2014 at his home near Collinwood at the age of 88 Years, 3 Months, 4 Days. Mr. Morris joined the U.S. Navy on October 19, 1944. He served during World War II receiving the Asiatic-Pacific and World War II victory medals. He was discharged March 27, 1946. He was an avid outdoorsmen enjoying especially hunting and fishing. Mr. Morris was a self employed siding contractor and a member of Collinwood Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Brenda Thompson and husband Kenneth, Inkie West and husband Darrell, a son, Bo Morris all of Collinwood, TN, 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Joe Morris and wife Janie of Waynesboro, TN, J.D. Morris of Toledo, OH, two sisters, Sue Morris and Mary Ann Turnbo all of Waynesboro, TN. In addition to his parents, Mr. Morris was preceded in death by his wife, Polly Juanita McDowell Morris, three brothers, Robert, Billy, and Jessie Morris, and a sister, Alice McClain.
Services will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Collinwood Freewill Baptist Church with Marcus Morrow and Larry Keith Wright officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Collinwood Memorial Gardens with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 4, 6:00-9:00 pm and on Wednesday, from 10:00 AM until service time at the Collinwood Freewill Baptist Church, Collinwood, TN
