James E. Mills, 62, of Bolivar, died Tuesday morning, May 16, 2006 at his home.
The husband of Joyce Pierce Mills, who survives, he was a Highway Patrolman for 35 years, retiring as a Lieutenant. Mr. Mills was born April 1, 1944 in Hardeman County. He lived here all of his life, graduating from Bolivar Central High School in 1962. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Jaycees and Walnut Grove Baptist Church.
Graveside services were 11:00 AM Thursday, May 18, 2006 at Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Hickory Valley with Ray Lovelady officiating. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar were in charge of arrangements.
In addition to his wife, whom he married May 23, 1964, he is survived by one daughter and her husband, Cheri and Michael Fisher of Savannah; three sons and their wives, Roy & Page Mills, Jimbo & Jackie Mills and David & Amanda Mills, all of Bolivar; eight grandchildren, Tonya, Regan, Khala, Johnny, Billy, Cody, Lane and J.C.; his mother, two sisters and one brother.
