James A. Merryman of Finger, TN was born December 31, 1934 in Booneville, MS the son of the late Giles Claude Merryman and Lillian Jane Buckridge Merryman. He was united in marriage to Norma Ruth Jordan on November 6, 1954. Mrs. Merryman preceded him in death on July 11, 2013 after 58 years of marriage.
Mr. Merryman retired after 30 years as a Final Inspector at the Ford Motor Company plant in Livonia, Michigan. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 182 Union. In 1983, Mr. Merryman and his family moved to Adamsville, TN and in 2007 moved to Finger, TN. He enjoyed farming, tending to his livestock, bowling, camping, and fishing. Mr. Merryman was a member of Bethel Springs First Baptist Church. He was an active member of Brightmoor Masonic Lodge 540 while living in Michigan and Adamsville Lodge 338 after moving to Tennessee. He was a Shriner and was involved in fundraising for the Shriners for many years.
Mr. Merryman departed this life on May 25, 2019 at the age of 84 Years, 4 Months, 25 Days.
He is survived by two daughters, Wanda Kay Stamatellos and husband Timothy and Brenda Lee Harville and husband Dwayne; five grandchildren, Andy Stamatellos and wife Heidi, David Merryman, Krystal Chanley, Issac Harville, Rachel Harville; seven great grandchildren, Jayda Stamatellos, Katelyn Stamatellos, Allison Stamatellos, Emilee Stamatellos, Louis Chanley, T. J. Chanley, Aubree Faith Harville; a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Merryman was preceded in death by a son, James Derrial Merryman in 2005; three sisters, Lillie Mae Williams, Pauline McQueen and husband Benny, Beatrice Merryman; five brothers, John H. Merryman and wife Ruby, Hubert Merryman, Roy Clinton Merryman, Claude Howard Merryman, and Vernon Lee Merryman.
