Mr. McKee died early Tuesday morning at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
A native of Hardeman County, he was the son of the late Wallace and Evelyn Bernice Doyle McKee. Mr. McKee lived in Memphis from 1966-76 before moving to Jackson where he lived since that time.
He was a member of Jackson First United Methodist Church and a 1963 graduate of Bolivar Central High School. He achieved the rank of Master Sergeant in the Tennessee National Guard and in May, 1997, retired from BellSouth (now AT&T). Mr. McKee served as president of the Communication Workers of America (CWA), Local #3804 from 1987-1997. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his friends.
He leaves his wife, Caroline Ferguson McKee of Jackson; his son, James (Jimmy) Anthony McKee, also of Jackson; his sister, Carolyn McKee Ervin and her husband, Ray, of Bolivar; his brother, Forrest McKee of Bolivar; a very special nephew, Tim Rixie and his wife, Sheila, of Bolivar and several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Emily McKee Rixie.
