J. B. Martin, 85, of Hickory Valley, died Saturday, November 11, at Methodist Healthcare of Somerville.Born in Hickory Valley, November 14, 1922 to James Arron and Mary Elizabeth Williams Martin, he was married July 14, 1942 to Willie Pauline Davis. He served in the US Army during WW2 in the 38th Infantry and was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Grand Junction. He lived the majority of his life in Hickory Valley where he was a former postmaster and was a rural letter carrier in both Hickory Valley and Moscow. He was a deacon at the Hickory Valley Baptist Church.In addition to his wife Pauline, he is survived by one son, Ronnie Martin of Centerville, TN; two daughters Pamela Martin-Rush of Hickory Valley and Joy Deming of Ripley, TN; three sisters, Virginia Anderson of Memphis, Mable Lax of Bolivar, Jean Bishop of Hickory Valley; one brother Joe Martin of Hickory Valley; six grandchildren, Brett and Cory Martin both of Centerville, Tiffany Dyals of Rosemount, MN, Rachael Middleton of Somerville, Christy Williams of Oakland, and Ben Deming of Ripley, TN. He was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Ferguson.
