James W. King, 85, of Grand Junction, died Monday, October 31, 2005 at his home.
Mr. King, a farmer, was born July 28, 1920 in the Old Purdie area of Hardeman County, son of the late James O’Neal King and Emma Robinson King, and made his home in Grand Junction for the past 48 years. He served in the U.S. Army for 2 years and loved to coon hunt.
Graveside services were 1 pm Thursday, November 3, 2005 at Latham’s Chapel Cemetery near Medina with Kelvin Mercer officiating. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar were in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by nephews, Edward Lee Smith of Hickory Valley, Victor Cobb of Knoxville, Forrest Cobb of Ocean Springs, Miss., Donald Coats of Selmer, and Billy and Jeffrey Coats; nieces, Barber Harper of Savannah, GA, Margaret Ellis of Grand Junction, Alita Bodry of Saucier, Miss., Ina Jo Roberts, Mary Coats of Selmer and Phyllis and Julie Ann Coats. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mildred Ann Criss; his infant son, James Alton King; and two sisters, Julie Frances Cobb and Ruby Hughley.
