He was born and reared in Chester County, the son of the late Oscar Burton and Dora Maude Maddox Hunter. He attended schools in Chester County. He served a tour of duty in the U.S. Navy and was discharged in 1951 and then entered the U.S. Army and served in Germany and was discharged in 1953. He had worked at Milan Arsenal, E-T-N and Axel in Humboldt and retired from UCN Container Plant.
He is survived by a special friend Martha Ballard; two step sons Ray Ballard of Humboldt and Sammie Ballard of Collierville; three step daughters Betty Barber of Memphis, Judy Adams of Medina and Sandy Siddens of Milan (Robert); one brother Ray Hunter of East Peoria, IL; a sister Betty Bishop of Milledgeville; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
