James F. Ganus
was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on July 8, 1919 the son of the late James Franklin and Sarah Catherine Harris Ganus.
On January 18, 1946, he was united in marriage to Mary Jane Plunk, who survives.
Mr. Ganus attended school in Crump, Tennessee at New Hope, finishing the 8th grade. He worked as farmer until enlisting with the Army and serving in World War II. He served 3 years, 7 months, 11 days, he spent 18 months over seas in Germany, England, Belgium, France, and Holland. By the prayers of God's people, he made it back home safe. He then began carpentry work and retired from Yellow Creek on September 25, 1981. He was a member of the Crump Senior Citizens and the Christian Assembly United Pentecostal Church. He taught Sunday school, served as a board member, and as an usher. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, and he especially liked to rabbit hunt.
Mr. Ganus departed this life on Sunday, April 12, 2009 at the age of 89 years, 9 months, 4 days.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Ganus is survived by a brother, Evan F. Ganus of Morris Chapel, Tennessee; a sister, Fannie K. Ganus Fierce of Crump, Tennessee; and was dearly loved by his nephews and nieces.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Charley Ganus, Roy Ganus, Erby Ganus, and Uley Ganus; 3 sisters, Della Hopper, Hester Stewart, and Mollie Miller.
