James E. Patterson, born on January 13, 1929, and passed away on February 6, 2025, was a cherished member of his community and a beloved family man. A dedicated electrician by trade, James was known not only for his skills but also for his unwavering commitment to his craft and those around him.
James devoted 20 years of his life to serving in the U.S. Air Force, a testament to his deep sense of duty and patriotism. His military service was an integral part of his identity and one that he carried with pride throughout his life. After retiring from service, he continued to contribute to his community, becoming an active member of Zion Baptist Church and the American Legion Post 130, and retired from owning and operating Haggard Farm Supply where he forged lasting friendships and connections.
He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy C. Patterson, and their sons, James David Patterson and Bobby Wade Patterson, and brother D.E. Patterson James was a proud grandfather to Stacey Patterson, Mark Patterson, and Matthew Patterson, and he delighted in watching his family grow, including seven great-grandchildren who brought joy and laughter into his life.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Luther E. Patterson and Zella Ayers Patterson, who instilled in him the values he carried throughout his life. He is also preceded by his siblings, including brothers Eldred, Cecil, Waylon, Leroy, Sammy, and Jerry Patterson, as well as sisters Velma Maddalozzo, Ruth Bugg, and Barbara LaFevers.
In his personal life, James had a passion for travel, exploring new places and creating memories with those he loved. His warmth, kindness, and steadfastness left a profound impact on everyone he met, making him a beloved figure among friends and family alike.
A visitation in honor of James will be held on February 8, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:30 PM, both taking place at Zion Baptist Church located at 750 Glen Rock Branch Road, Waynesboro, TN, 38485.
Interment will follow at Gallaher cemetery.
