James P. Dupree

Dr. James P. Dupree, Jr. was born November 5, 1928 in Memphis, TN the son of the late James P. and Edna Corner Dupree.
He was united in marriage to Martha Caroll on May 22, 1988. Dr. Dupree held a Doctor of Dentistry degree from Memphis State University and was a Dentist by profession. From 1953 to 1956, Dr. Dupree served in the United States Army as a dentist. He was a member of the Pickwick United Methodist Church in Pickwick, Tennessee.
Dr. Dupree departed this life on March 8, 2016 in Corinth, Mississippi at the age of 87 Years, 4 Months, 3 Days. He is survived by his wife Martha (Caroll) Dupree of Michie, TN; three children, Jay Dupree of Clovis, NM, Cynthia Choate and husband Brian of Michie, TN; and Brent Tucker and wife Claudia of Ashford, AL; a sister, Edna (Dupree) Majors and husband Tommy of Blytheville, AR; seven grandchildren, Jason Dupree, Megan Pilkington, Christie Pilkington, Kristen Troutt and husband Jon, Jonathan Jobe, Brandon Choate and wife Fahran, and Josh Choate; three great grandchildren, Anniston Choate, Maddux Choate, and Ruby James Troutt; a sister-in-law,Carolyn Dupree of Memphis, TN; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Dupree was preceded in death by a daughter, Jamie Pilkington; three sisters, Dorothy (Dupree) Hollomon, Anne (Dupree) Terhune, and Gladys (Dupree) Neel; and a brother, Rollo Dupree.
Vistation will be held on March 10, 2016 from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM and Services will be held on March 10, 2016 at 3:00 PM all at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Acton in Acton, Tennessee, with Ray Chandler and Brent Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in the Liberty Cemetery at Michie, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pickwick United Methodist Choir or to the American Heart Association.
