Mr. James Ray Delaney passed peacefully to his heavenly home surrounded by his family early Tuesday morning, February 24, 2015, at the age of 89 years, 4 months, and 20 days. He was born in Saltillo, Tennessee, on Sunday, October 4, 1925, son to the late Charles Allen and Jocie Lee Pearson Delaney. He was united in marriage to Nellie
Faye Downs on October 30, 1954. Mr. Delaney served his country in the United States Army.
He leaves behind his loving wife of over 60 years, Faye Delaney, two daughters, Kay Delaney Hart and her husband, Tim, of Reagan and Ruby Delaney of Sardis, two grandchildren, Grant Timothy Hart of Reagan and Brittany Delana Hart of Jackson. Also surviving are two brothers, Ira Delaney of Sardis and Edward Delaney of Reklaw, Texas, along with nieces, nephews, and a score of friends. Preceding him in death are his parents, and a brother Robert Delaney.
Mr. Delaney was a faithful Christian and a member of the Hinkle Baptist church, a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, a dependable friend, and a respected member of the community. He was a hard-working farmer, woodcutter, and truck hauler. He enjoyed flying airplanes with his son-in-law, Tim, as well as bottoming chairs with hay baling twine. Mr. Delaney was a blessing to all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
