James Harold Deaton
was born on July 16, 1913 in Tishomingo County, Mississippi the son of the late Lee and Naomia Cain Deaton.
On June 7, 1936 he was united in marriage to the former Gladys White, who survives.
Mr. Deaton was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during World War II.
He retired from his job as a grocery store and café owner and operator. During his life, he had also worked with Shackelford Funeral Directors in Savannah and as a security guard for Hardin Medical Center. Mr. Deaton lived most of his life in Hardin County and was of Baptist belief.
He departed this life on August 2, 2006 at Hardin Home Nursing Home in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 93 years and 17 days.
Mr. Deaton is survived by his wife, Gladys White Deaton of Savannah;
his daughter, Linda Deaton Banks, of Savannah;
one grandchild, Stacy Grisham and one great-grandchild, Levi Casteel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandchild,
Jeremy Stephen Sweat; 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
