JAMES EARL DAVIS
was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on June 17, 1916 the son of the late Joe Carter and Icie Christian Davis.
On August 9, 1942 he was united in marriage to the former Elizabeth Hughes, who survives.
Mr. Davis was head of the Business Education Department at the University of Miami. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Clifton, Tennessee, charter member of the Masonic Lodge in Clifton, Tennessee and a member of the American Legion. Mr. Davis was former principal of Frank Hughes High School in Clifton, Tennessee and Walnut Grove Elementary School. Mr. Davis was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. He enjoyed teaching, being in nature and serving in church. Mr. Davis had a vegetable garden each year for over 30 years.
He departed this life on July 24, 2008 in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 92 years, 1 month and 7 days.
Other than his wife, Elizabeth of Clifton, Tennessee, he is survived by one daughter, Sharon Herrera of Tavernier, Florida.

2 grandchildren, Bobby Harden and his wife Kelly of Parsons, Tennessee and Tana Hodes and her husband Mike of Key Largo, Florida
2 step-grandchildren, Nicole Mercolino of Petaluma, California and Michael Mercolino of Los Angeles, California
4 great-grandchildren, Caitlyn Harden, Phillip Hodes, Haley Hodes and Mia Mercolino
Mr. Davis was also preceded in death by one grandchild, Mark Harden and one brother, Glen Davis.
