James (Thomas) Davis departed this life on February 21, 2015 at his home in Sardis, Tennessee at the age of 75 years and 23 days. He was born on January 29, 1940, son to the late James Curtis and Winnie Marie Ellis Davis. He was united in marriage to Cathey Gail Dickson on December 31, 1970, who survives.
Mr. Davis graduated from Saltillo High School in 1959. He was retired from TDOT of Crump, Tennessee as a road maintenance employee after 27 years of service and was a member of the Tennessee State Employees Association. He was also a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Millegeville, Tennessee.
Thomas lived in Lexington, Tennessee for two years and Hurricane Community in Sardis, Tennessee for 42 years. Before his employment with TDOT, he was also employed at Fesmire Tire in Lexington, Tennessee, Johnson Brothers Tire in Lexington, Tennessee, and Triangle Pacific in Jackson, Tennessee.
Thomas was very active in the community and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He never met a stranger; every new person was considered a new friend. He always had a smile on his face no matter what. Thomas was a hard worker and provided very well for his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Tommy Lynn Davis and his wife, Melody of Sardis, Tennessee, April Dawn Davis, and Matthew Lynn Davis. Thomas also leaves behind sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, and a massive host of friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Curtis and Winnie Marie Ellis Davis.
