James Ray (Jim) Davis

James Ray (Jim) Davis

was born in Leighton, Alabama on November 26, 1941 the son of the late Jack A. Davis and Norene Helen Taylor Pruitt.

Jim, as he was known by everyone, was united in marriage to Willie Faye Rushing, who preceded him in death.

Jim served his country proudly in the United States Army in Germany. He worked as a mechanic for Sam Teague Ford for 10 years. Jim was a member of Eureka United Methodist Church in Savannah, Tennessee. In his spare time he enjoyed playing his guitar, singing, and being outdoors.

He departed this life on Thursday, November 3, 2022 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 80 years, 11 months, and 8 days.

Jim is survived by his sons, James Brooks Davis and his wife Dawn of Jackson, Tennessee, Joel Robert Davis of Toone, Tennessee, and Richard Alan Davis and his wife Katrina of Gibson County, Tennessee; grandchildren, David Alan Davis, Madison McAlpin, and Emalee Davis; four great grandchildren; sisters, Maxine Davis Rice and Shirley Davis Fowler and her husband Joe, all of Savannah, Tennessee; and brother, Billy C. Davis and his wife Freda of Savannah, Tennessee.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother whom raised him, Lucille Petigo Davis; son, George David Davis; sisters, Wilma J. (Jean) Crowe and Mary E. (Lisa) Smith; and brothers, Benjamin F. Davis and James Howard Davis.
