James Parker Copeland departed this life on Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at the age of 83 years, 6 months, 21 days. He was born in Olive Hill, Tennessee on January 22, 1932, the son of the late Sam and Belle McConnell Copeland. On October 24, 1953, he was united in marriage to Jewelene Southern, who survives.
James was an honest man of his word, a worker for the Lord, a hard worker, and a provider for his family. He always looked forward to all the family holidays and cookouts, but most of all he loved his wife of 62 years, his children, and his grandchildren. He was a member of the Piney Grove Church of Christ and Mt. View Church of Christ.
James is survived by his wife, Jewelene Copeland of Savannah, Tennessee; children, Kenneth Copeland, Travis Copeland and wife, Elizabeth, Brenda Benson and husband, Billy, Rena Walker and husband, James all of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Karen Benson, Sam Copeland, Tiffany Copeland, Billy Benson II, Legatha Middleton, Abby Winjen, April Selby, Mary Smith, Melissa Hynes, Ashley Walker, Jason Copeland, and Justin Copeland; 18 great grandchildren; a great great grandchild; sisters, Maxine Alexandra and Lorine Wilkerson both of Savannah, Tennessee; and a brother, Hershel Copeland of Savannah, Tennessee.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Robert Copeland and Edwin Copeland; grandson, Kenneth P. (Ken) Copeland; and 2 great grandchildren.
