James Willie Carter, 78, of Middleton, died Monday, October 3, 2005 at Bolivar General Hospital.
The husband of Ellen G. Garrett Carter, who survives, he was a polisher at Harmon Automotive for over 20 years as well as a farmer. Mr. Carter was born September 14, 1927 in Hardeman County, son of the late Tommy Ostin Carter and Mary Frances Robinson, lived here most of his life and was a member of Essary Springs Baptist Church.
Services were 1 PM Thursday, October 6, 2005 at Shackelford Funeral Directors Middleton chapel with Virgil Howell officiating. Burial was in Essary Springs Cemetery near Pocahontas with Dennis Callahan at the graveside.
In addition to his wife, whom he married January 7, 1952, survivors include son, Roger Dale Carter of Orlando, Fla.; daughter Teresa Cheryl Redfearn of Middleton; brother, Jessie Austin Carter of Corinth, Miss.; three grandchildren, Adam Dwight Redfearn of Cookeville, Joshua Dale Carter of Lauderdale County, Tenn., Jessica Hope Carter of Middleton and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Lillie Merriel, Lessie Mae Nelms and Bessie Louise Nelms.
