James Troy Carlin

James Troy Carlin, Jr. was born March 23, 1929 in the Gooch's Store/Powell's Chapel Community of Hardeman County, TN. He passed from this life at his home in Eastview on November 23, 2017. He was the son of the late James Troy and Mamie McAlpin Carlin. He is survived by his wife, the love of his life for 69 years, Peggy Burns Carlin. He had 3 daughters, Sherry Brooks (Fiance Dale Monroe), Tena Rowsey, and Tammy Forsythe (Steve). He also had a daughter in his heart, Teresa Stanfield (Jarrell).

He loved his grandchildren: Erik Brooks, Easton Rowsey, Bethany Anderson (Jason), Nathan Forsythe, Katie Aristorenas (Andrew) and Mandy Monroe Dabbs. He was Pa to Blake and Maddie Dabbs. Tyler (Hayley and Carter) and Sarah Stanfield always lovingly called him the neighbor. He loved them just like his own. Family was not just blood to him.

He is survived by his sister, Gayle Forsythe of Lakeland, TN and was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Fulton (Robert Joe who survives) and his brother, Joe Robert Carlin. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, family and friends whom he loved very much.

He loved the Lord and was a member of the Antioch church of Christ. He graduated from Ramer High School in 1948 and proudly served in the USAF from 1952–1956. He was very patriotic and loved this country very much. He retired from Brown Shoe Company after 40 years. To say that he loved the Memphis Tigers is an understatement. He loved taking care of his yard, planting flowers, feeding the birds and yes, even the squirrels. He loved to reminisce about old times and if he met you, he always wanted to know your name and where you were from. He never met a stranger. He will be missed by many who loved him.
