Services for James C. (JC) Cannon, age 81, of Waynesboro, TN, will be Friday, August 17, 2007 at 3 pm at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Waynesboro, TN with Richard Rains officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Griggs Cemetery, Waynesboro, with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Thursday, August 16, 2007 from 5 pm to 9 pm and Friday, August 17, 2007 from 8 am until service time at the funeral home. He died at Wayne County Nursing Home in Waynesboro on Wednesday, August 15, 2007.
Mr. Cannon, a native of Waynesboro, TN, was a auto body painter and refinisher for over 45 years and drove a school bus for over 25 years. He loved to rebuild and paint cars and was known in Wayne County and surrounding areas for his good work. Known for driving school buses for children, he also drove to sporting events. He loved all sports and supported the kids he drove to all games. Mr. Cannon was a member of Ray’s Chapel Bapitst Church and was a United States Army veteran of WWII.
Mr. Cannon was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Flora Clayton Cannon, his wife, Jessie Rose Cannon, his brothers, Carl, Jessie, and Leslie Cannon, and his sisters, Madge Griggs and Mary Erdman.
Survivors, daughter, Debra Davis and husband, Jerry, of Waynesboro; sons, Jerry Cannon and wife, Judy, of Waynesboro, Steven Cannon and wife, Karen, of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Brian Cannon, Shelly Couch, Emily Davis, great-grandchildren, Makayla and Drew Couch; sisters, Anna Bell Baker of Toledo, OH, Janie Morris of Waynesboro, several nieces and nephews.
