James D. "Jim" Bailey, 76, of Middleton, died Thursday morning, April 12, 2007 at his home.
The husband of Frankie Lou Avant Kelley Bailey, who survives, he was a school teacher and principal in Hardeman and Fayette Counties. Mr. Bailey was born March 3, 1931 in Hardeman County, son of the late James Ware Bailey and Ida Esse Macon Bailey and lived here most of his life. He graduated from Middleton High School in 1950 and received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Memphis. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean conflict and was a member of the American Legion and VFW where he served both as chaplain. Mr. Bailey enjoyed storytelling and church song leading and was a member of the New Hope Church of Christ.
In addition to his wife, whom he married November 23, 1996, survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Carole Bailey (Wes) Sims of Hickory Valley and Brenda (Ben) Hall of Middleton; one sister, Addie Lou Sain of Middleton; one stepdaughter and her husband, Elaine (John) McBride of Tallapoosa, GA; six grandchildren, Bernie, Laura, Lucas and Nathan Hall, Adele (Jason) McCord and Aaron (Shanna) Wilson; one step grandson, John Ross McBride, II and two great grandchildren, Jacob and Tyler McCord.
