Jacob Ryan Dowty, 24 of Hornsby, Tennessee, passed away Thursday morning, October 20, 2016 at his home.
Jacob was born July 28, 1992 in Jackson, TN, the son of Lorri Lee Hodge Brown (Ronald) and Arden Dowty (Becky). He lived all of his life in McNairy and Hardeman Counties. He was employed with CCA as a Lieutenant and Assistant Shift Supervisor at the Hardeman County Correctional Facility in Whiteville. He was also a proud member of their S.O.R.T. Team. A 2010 graduate of Bolivar Central High School, his favorite past times included hunting, riding four wheelers, playing and coaching baseball, St. Louis Cardinal baseball, UT Vols football and NASCAR.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his son, Corey Ryan Dowty of Hornsby; the love of his life, Jessica Ford of Hornsby; siblings, Mallory and Macy Lowery of Hornsby, Tyler Dowty of Selmer, Stephen Harmon (Emily) of Henderson and Krystina Prather of Selmer; maternal grandparents, Billy and Sue Hodge of Hornsby, paternal grandparents, Linda Dowty of Selmer, Glenda Dowty of Selmer and Sherman and Dot Henry of Memphis; aunts and uncles, Gail Marcum (Keith), Beverly Mitchell, John Hodge (Jennifer), Stacey Dowty, Jeff Henry, Billy Joe Hodge, Jr., Tony Hodge (Becky), Robin Watson (Lawrence), Carolyn Bratton, Brenda Cummins (Claudie), John Brown, David Brown (Joy), Charlotte McClain (Doug), Donald Brown (Amy), Shelly Stricklin, and Kelly Dockery (Kevin); niece and nephews, numerous cousins and friends, and special family members, Betty and Ricky Sweat, Nicole Maddox and D. J. Mason.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Corey Matthew Hodge, grandfather; W. L. Dowty; grandparents, John and Betty Brown; and special great aunt and uncle, Nancy and James "Mud" Etheridge.
